When your clients ask for a fun and functional kitchen with a ton of storage - you deliver! These sweet clients were ready to live their best life and make their kitchen their dream kitchen. The lack of storage and functional flow has been preventing them from utilizing this space to the full extent, so they reached out to have us design a space they can live, play, and work in.

By switching up the major functions of the space, we created a more functional cooking/prepping area and allow for better traffic flow throughout. We had plenty of challenges to overcome - a random angled wall (that couldn’t be changed), beautiful structural beams (that couldn’t be changed for obvious reasons), and locations of skylights (who would want to omit any of those?!). By moving the range to the long wall, we were able to visually create balance by extending cabinetry up and encapsulating the beam to have it look intentional and symmetrical. Because the clients use this space as an office space, we accented the cabinetry on the right side of the range area in the same finish as the island to create a furniture “built-in” look.

We have them plenty of lighting throughout, but wanted to do something fun for the island. Because of the big beautiful skylight flanked by structural beams directly above the island - we had to get creative to include task and accent lighting! We decided the best course of action was to utilize a dual set of track lighting which would house the spot lights on the top rail for proper task lighting, and the lower rail would be the home of the aptly named Blob glass pendant lights for accent lights. By using the track system, we were able to anchor the rails to span over the skylight to provide proper anchorage and position.

Beautiful + functional spaces like these are only made possible by clients that are open to possibilities, and our partnering contractors who help bring these visions to reality. Thank you for letting us do what we love!
